Electric Transportation (ET) Project Specialist
JOB SUMMARY:
The ET Project Specialist exists to support Mississippi Power's strategic objective of accelerating the adoption of electric transportation. This person will proactively provide electrification consultation with high-priority customers and strengthen partner relationships.
The Project Specialist effectively works with internal and external partners to successfully manage multiple customer projects. ET Project management includes customer ET consultations, ongoing communications, site design recommendations, rate assessments, contracting, easements, and vendor engagement through project completion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Thorough knowledge of electric utility infrastructure & equipment; power delivery, including electrical design requirements, operations, practices, and procedures required
Applied electrical experience preferred
Experience in project management and working directly with customers or vendors/contractors required
Sales experience strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
. Knowledge of the Electric Transportation Market including around customer base, market research and trends interpreting data points and adapting strategies based on data
Basic understanding of Mississippi Power rates and their implementation
Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities and in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Effectively interacts with both external and internal stakeholders to develop strategies that meet goals
Strong critical thinking skills (problem solving and decision making) and ability to anticipate and troubleshoot complex problems and technical issues
Creative problem-solving to successfully meet customer needs
Excellent communication skills - written, oral and interpersonal; including the ability to represent Mississippi Power externally through positive customer and community engagements
Additional skills in: Consulting, Engineering Design, Negotiations, Contracting
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products & some company information tools such as CSS, CIT, DistView, JETS is desired
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
. Sales Targets -
o High-value applications (ports, large industrial equipment, large operations, off-road)
o Medium duty and heavy duty fleet opportunities (strategic planning when vehicles are not readily available)
o Public Charging (NEVI, Tesla, Electrify America, etc.)
o Commercial L2 and DCFC (Dealerships, hospitality, MUSH, etc.)
. Inform customers of MPC's commercial incentives, federal incentives and funding opportunities and educate them about the value of providing public EV charging for customers, employees, and visitors
. Provide ET consultative services to customers for vehicles, chargers options, fleet conversions, charging strategies, rate options
. Ask probing business questions and route other Mississippi Power opportunities to the sales organization
. Conduct site assessments with customer and operations and/or electrician partners at customer locations
. Work with legal and contracts departments on customer revisions to our contract and easement documents as needed, preparing contracts, exhibits and easement documents for customer signatures
. Develop final project design plans and costs in coordination with customer and design/implementation partners -
o Work with Power Delivery to determine existing capacity on transformers and future utility infrastructure needs based on design and future customer charging needs.
o Prepare iClear Load sheets
o Determine rate impacts of charging additions
o Present site design plan for customer review and approval.
. Properly document each project
. Communicate project results to internal and external partners along the way
. Work with vendors/installers to turn projects over for installation
. Work with Distribution Accounting and Supply Chain to ensure accounting and purchasing orders are set up to pay vendors/installers

. EVSE companies (hardware, software, maintenance, service)
. Contractors (electrical, mechanical, construction, installation, turnkey)

Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license for travel in-state visiting customers and project sites
Travel up to 50% of time within service territory. Occasional overnight travel will be required.
