This position requires a minimumSecret clearance but ideally the candidate will have a Top Secret.ResponsibilitiesReports directly to the Director of Operations, Space Programs and is partof the Space Programs Directorate Leadership teamTechnology thought leader for the directorate including consultation andadvising of future technology strategy and trends in the Space domainWorks closely with the FTI Technology group and the Space Directorate'smultiple Operation teams to architect optimum system solutions for our SpacecustomersIdentify and implement strategy to apply Systems Engineering methods and toolsacross SMC Corps and Programs. Identify cross-cutting requirements andfacilitate coordination across technical stakeholdersInfluence decisions of the SMC customer community to ensure mission success ofprogramsAs required, support FTI Business Development staff at the solutionarchitect and technology level. This will include support to customermeetings, authoring technical white papers and contributing to proposaleffortsIdentify potential new program opportunities and/or contacts within theSpace community and work with FTI Business Development and Space ProgramsDirectory to matureWork with the FTI SBIR-developed tool suite and 3D framework to drivecustomer use cases for existing technology and, as required, identify gapsrequiring new solutionsEducation/QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering and/or ElectricalEngineering; Master of Science in Systems and/or Electrical Engineeringstrongly preferredMust possess an active government Secret security clearance, TS/SCI preferred15+ years actively working as Systems Engineer (background in SpaceSystems preferred to include space vehicles, payloads, ground stations andcommunication networks)5+ years Space Systems acquisition specializing in satellites, control andground segment, communications systemsPrevious experience at SMC is strongly preferredExperience with Systems Engineering tools and space system architecturedevelopmentExperience working on future technology strategyExperience working with multiple stakeholders on the architecture, designand engineering of enterprise space system solutions using combination of GOTSand COTS productsStrong understanding of DevSecOps, Agile Development, Digital Engineeringand Cloud technologies.Familiarity with the DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) and relatedarchitecture guidanceExperience with architecture development and requirements tracking tools suchas Rational Tool Suite and DOORSExperience developing and executing test and evaluation processExperience structuring Course of Action (COA) assessment, facilitatingperformance vs cost trades and conducting business case analyses (BCA)Familiarity with software configuration management processes to include sourcecontrol managementFamiliarity with MS Excel and other MS Office toolsAbility to work with cross functional team (i.e. project manager,logisticians, engineers, program analyst)Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed teamStrong written and oral communication skillsFollow us: Facebook Twitter Glassdoor LinkedInFTI is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
