Position Description
Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Manager to join their PMO. This position can be 100% remote but prefer DMV location.
In this role you will:
Be responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, and managing technical projects from inception to completion.
Work projects will span cloud migrations to Azure commercial and GCC High, data center migrations, Disaster Recovery planning, infrastructure, IT operations, ITIL and IT Service Delivery.
Working with stakeholders to understand and define project scope and document project charter
Determine preferred project management approach (Waterfall or Agile)
Working with stakeholders to determine and document requirements, and working with project teams to ensure that requirements are understood and met
Working with stakeholders, architects and technical team to develop WBS and project plan or planning release trains and sprints. Identifying milestones.
Developing schedules, contingency plans, workflow diagrams, and operational documentation.
Identifying, documenting and managing resolution of project action items and issues
Holding daily scrums and project planning meetings
Working with technical teams to manage project and track progress
Managing internal and external resources (partners and contractors) to ensure project delivery
Managing change by planning implementation and ensuring that documentation and training is developed and delivered
Reviewing documentation and work for quality assurance
Managing project communications
Developing briefings (quad charts) for the IT leadership team and delivering weekly briefings. Preparing presentations for stakeholders to brief on project status
Understanding and communicating tasks dependencies and ensuring that the team is aware of blockers or status of tasks on the critical path
Facilitating discussion to make decisions and taking part in decision-making processes. Applying critical thinking during decision-making process and ensuring that project decisions are documented and communicated
Mitigating scheduling, personnel, and technical risks to facilitate cost savings
Understanding project budget and cost impact of architectural decisions made
Closing out projects. Ensuring that lessons learned
Ensuring that Serco's SDLC framework is followed.
Have the following understanding:
Be able to explain the importance of defining and following policies, standards, and procedures and describe technical standards and procedures that affect the project.
Be able to describe the roles and responsibilities of technology and business functions and identify major activities associated with delivering technical functionality.
Be able to make decisions and take part in decision-making processes.
Be able to work with a team to develop and document processes and workflows
In addition, you will be participating in a current initiative to review and modernize internal Serco project management processes and work with a cross-functional team to evaluate, develop and implement updated procedures. Other duties as assigned. Requires experience and proficiency in discipline.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in IT or related field (Degree must be in computer science, engineering, applied sciences, or IT management)
10 years of related experience
PMP certification
5+ years in a technical environment, minimum of five years prior technical project management experience required
Cloud (AWS) implementation and migration experience. GCC High experience.
Experience leading and directing the work of others
Familiarity with data center operations and cloud migrations
Familiarity with Technology Architecture & Workflow Planning
Familiarity with data center operations and cloud migrations
Familiarity with ITIL concepts and ServiceNow
MS Office Tools (Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) expertise
Additional desired experience and skills:
ITIL certifications
Agile experience and certification
AWS certification
Agile certification or experience preferred
