Roles and Responsibilities:
The primary focuses of this position include:
Manage and maintain data:
Support the Director of IAD and Branch Chiefs and Lead Data Analyst by supporting an effort to track more than 75 data fields across 60 Army systems, updated monthly by 100+ participants
Apply critical thinking to review, pressure-test, and clean the data submitted each month and draft follow-up questions to participants understand data nuances / open questions, as applicable
Develop key products for senior leaders leveraging the data
Prepare the data collection template for the following month's submission
Maintain and execute script to translate the data into a format which can be ingested into Army's data visualization product
Respond to inquiries about the data itself and requests to generate bespoke analyses and visualizations based on the data
Drive communications with various stakeholders as needed
Drive rigorous analyses:
Support other members of the DASA DEC IAD team in their work by running existing analytical tools and methods related to demand forecasting, resource allocation / optimization, and more
Update the analytical tools themselves as required to support bespoke analyses
Support ad-hoc requests that DASA DE&C IAD fields (e.g., in preparation for key meetings, conferences, travel)
Innovate and lead technical projects:
Identify and pursue new opportunities to better leverage data within IAD
Innovate on existing data solutions and products to improve them
Lead cross-functional, technical projects to drive desired outcomes, including building and delivering action plans, coordinating across stakeholders, and proposing required policy or other changes required
Contribute to building and executing DASA DE&C's broader data strategy via technical expertise and strategic thinking
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of experience in data analytics (experience may be substituted in lieu of degree)
At least 3 years of experience working in MS Excel with advanced proficiency
At least 1 year of experience utilizing a data visualization tool / platform such as Tableau or QlikSense
Applicants must already possess a valid DoD Secret level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including experience with VBA)
Ability to using Python, R, and/or SQL to clean and generate insights from large data sets
Experience building or managing large data sets and visualizing data insights via dashboards
Experience developing or maintaining applications in DataBricks environment
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly refine key insights from complex data sets and to evaluate the data at face-value
Comfort operating in ambiguity and creatively tackling new issues
Strong verbal and written communication, especially on analytical concepts, methods, and insights
Ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders effectively and actively
Heightened attention to detail
Previous experience working within or for the United State Government (and specifically the Army)
Interest and motivation to learn about specific Army platforms and systems
At least 1 year of experience in at least one scripting language
