Position Description
Serco is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead Technology Transition and Research & Development across business units and divisions. Join a newly formed Enterprise Technology Team charged with finding opportunities where digital technologies and information can create new customer value.
The Technology Transition SME will work closely with business units and functional areas to discover and exploit innovations, digital solutions, and new technologies. This role will also conduct continuous market scans to determine new technologies that will influence the way we deliver value to our customers in the future. This role will also rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; perform a variety of tasks; lead and direct the work of small innovation teams of engineers, developers, analysts and data scientists. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
The Technology Transition SME will report to the Vice President and Enterprise Technology Officer and will operate in various roles such as individual contributor, team member, and project lead. A high degree of teamwork, collaboration skills, and personal integrity are required.
In this role, you will:
Provide innovative, analytic, digital, and technical solutions that support the development of a technology roadmap
Work closely with existing digital solution teams to transition new technologies to support operational project teams and customers
Find pockets of digital and technical solutions within the business to understand the potential applicability across the business units and divisions
Work with capture managers, product owners, analysts, testers, and developers to determine requirements, develop user stories and acceptance criteria
Lead innovation teams that follow a Lean Agile delivery
Define innovative, well-architected, scalable, and analytic solutions
Communicate technical details through presentations, technical reports, or white papers
Educate and influence stakeholders, customers, development, and engineering teams on effective solutions and best practices
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Department of Defense Clearance
Master's Degree in an IT-related field
Hold Comp TIA Project+, CISSP, CompTIA Security+ and ITTIL certifications
10+ years analytics, implementation, managing complex innovation project
Lead role experience in supporting digital transformation programs
Advanced knowledge and experience in one or more current programming languages (e.g., C #, Java, JavaScript, Python)
Expertise in Microservices architecture, building Serverless applications
Experience establishing legacy modernization and migration roadmaps for large scale applications
Experience with Agile methodology
Strong technical presentation skills with the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer facing interaction skills
