deal candidates will have a minimum of 3+ years experience reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Producing and recording news segments for KYW Newsradio

  • Gathering, writing, recording, editing and delivering news content inclusive of providing live coverage when breaking news occurs

  • Maintaining general knowledge of issues, policies, and newsmakers in the broadcasting area

  • Writing scripts and ad-libbing material for stories.

  • Development and research of potential news stories.

  • Protecting the station's FCC license.

  • Other duties as required by management.

  • Flexibility with working nights and weekends

Qualifications

More About You:

Required & Preferred:

  • At least three years of reporting experience for a news organization

  • Experience in editing and packaging news sound and interviews

  • Understanding and experience reporting as a multimedia journalist

  • Experience in a busy and fast-paced, 24/7 newsroom

  • Comfort with breaking news and deadline pressure

  • Proactivity and self-starting attitude a must

  • Ability to be nimble and pivot with the ebb and flow of the news cycle

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent interview skills

  • Excellent news judgment

  • Knowledge of the broadcast area of greater Philadelphia and station demographics a plus

  • 4-year degree in journalism, broadcasting or an adjacent field preferred
