Job Description

Work assignments are project in nature and are accountable for cost estimating, project management, and design criteria for their projects as well as the specifications for proper installation and equipment choices. Maintains standards and specifications, recommends changes to resolve design and construction problems, and write periodic reports on the progress of the project as well as tracking the expense versus the budget for the project.

Projects and assignments will include but not limited to the following: roofing, compressed air, cooling towers, fire protection, HVAC, overhead cranes, manufacturing equipment installation, above and below ground piping. Other duties include supporting site and facility maintenance personnel with engineering expertise on any maintenance repair issues.

Directs efforts of engineering consultants, provides design information, design reviews, specifications and approves proposals and services as the primary company contact. Estimates costs for equipment, materials, and installation as a basis for determining the feasibility of alternatives and return on investment. Approves drawings, specifies equipment, and writes purchase requisitions. The prospective candidate will monitor the work of outside contractors.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

. Project management for construction projects related to design / redesign of facility service systems collaboration across multiple departments and facilities, including:

o Cost estimates for capital and expense projects

o Directs the design of equipment, piping and HVAC systems

o Material procurement and Invoicing

o Specification development

o Project schedule development and reporting

o Development of maintenance processes and standards

o Recommending changes to resolve design and construction problems

o Periodic report writing on the progress of the project

o Managing/leading contractors to execute construction projects

o Contractor and contract management

o Developing 5-year facility infrastructure and utility strategies which include capital and expense estimates

o Reviewing and approving proposals and services as the primary company contact

o Performing feasibility studies and projecting return on investment

o Approving drawings, specifying equipment, and writing purchase requisitions

o Troubleshooting issues and resolving problems in the most efficient and cost-effective way

o Designing the most economical, efficient systems, deciding what or which equipment should be purchased, making recommendations, and keeping up to date on technical advances in the design field

o Provide construction and project management expertise for other Caterpillar locations as needed

o Acquires and maintains technical knowledge in the design field

Basic Requirements:

. Accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology degree or 5 years' experience

Top Candidate Will Also Have:

. SAP experience

. Previous CAD experience

. MS Office Experience

. MS Project experience with strong project management skills

. Previous job-related experience

. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of employees, contractors, and governmental regulatory bodies

Additional Details:

. Location: East Peoria, IL

. This is on-site support 4-5 business days per week.

. Due to possible facility emergencies (~5 per year) candidate should be available during nights/weekends for the occasional emergent situation - Vacations will not be interrupted

. Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

. 5-10% travel is expected
