Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Manager to join their PMO. This position can be 100% remote but prefer DMV location.

In this role you will be responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, and managing technical projects from inception to completion. Manages projects and activities spanning IT operations, cloud migrations, data center migrations, infrastructure, and IT Delivery. Provides direction on projects from inception through completion and provides technical and managerial assistance on all aspects of project management to comply with the technical requirements of the project. Manages and coordinates technical and administrative staff by assigning, scheduling, prioritizing, coordinating, and facilitating multiple tasks. Reviews work for quality assurance. Produces reports and other documentation highlighting project steps and status for daily and weekly meetings with stakeholders. Attends meetings and makes presentations about project status and work commitments. Ensures training of all staff members and instructs them on Serco's methods, procedures, and standards. Evaluates, develops or implements procedures regarding project documentation and development. Participates in long-range planning, analysis, and program design. Participates in the planning and design of new projects as requested. Other duties as assigned. Requires experience and proficiency in discipline. Degree must be in computer science, engineering, applied sciences, or management.

Key Activities:

  • Manage IT projects such as IT integration during company mergers and cloud migrations

  • Develop project plans, WBS, schedules, contingency plans, workflow diagrams, and operational documentation.

  • identify, document, monitor and resolve project risk and issues

  • Compile a weekly project quad chart and brief management

  • Lead a project team to complete a specific project or task including facilitating discussion of team goals, values, processes, roles, and responsibilities.

  • Apply experience developing written materials such as reports, manuals or documentation to assist other project team members.

  • Make decisions and take part in decision-making processes. Apply critical thinking in a decision-making process. Ensures that project decisions are documented

  • Manage critical milestones, and present overall project statuses to IT Executive Management and CIO.

  • Mitigate scheduling, personnel, and technical risks to facilitate cost savings

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field and 10+ years of exp.

  • PMP required

  • Agile certification or experience preferred

  • 5+ years in a technical environment, minimum of five years prior technical project management experience required.

  • Cloud (AWS) implementation and migration experience

  • Familiar with Technology Architecture & Workflow Planning

-MS Office Tools (Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

-Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Key Skills:

-Technical Project Management and Agile Project Management

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Project Management field.

  • Can explain the importance of defining and following policies, standards, and procedures and describe technical standards and procedures that affect the project.

-Can describe the roles and responsibilities of Technology and business functions and identify major activities associated with delivering technical functionality.

-Can make decisions and take part in decision-making processes. Can describe a specific discipline for applying critical thinking in a decision-making process and use specific techniques for assessing and prioritizing costs, risks, and benefits among other criteria for decision-making.

-Experience leading and directing the work of others.

-Familiar with data center operations and cloud migrations

Certifications:

  • PMI/PMP required

  • ITIL certifications prefered

  • Agile experience and certification preferred

  • AWS certification Preferred
