Job Summary:

The role manages the planning, organization, and implementation of IT projects and activities aligned specifically to the needs of Resource Industries Operations and Products (RIOP) and Advanced Component Manufacturing (ACM). The Program Specialist works closely with business partners and Caterpillar IT colleagues to define and align, develop, and implement RIOP and ACM initiatives that deliver the greatest customer value and support technology goals. The Program Specialist provides planning and delivery across RIOP and ACM in collaboration with Caterpillar IT. The technology delivery focused thought leader works with business stakeholders, RIOP and ACM IT managers, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and Caterpillar IT colleagues to provide expert IT product and service delivery including project oversight and clear communications in the utmost spirit of collaboration. What You Will Do:

This exciting role actively operates at the nexus of business value and technology optimization, partnering with RIOP and ACM business partners to deliver value across these key functions:

  • Strategic Vision: Vision to align Caterpillar Enterprise strategies end to end from RIOP and ACM business unit strategies to Resource Industries back to the Enterprise.

  • Thought Leadership & Communications: Provide cross-sectional / cross-organizational IT thought leadership to actively enable the business and proactively solve business challenges.

  • Technology initiative implementation: Drive tangible business value through capturing technology requirements and engaging teams to achieve business strategic value in delivery of business / IT strategy & objectives.

  • Solution Leadership: Identify, vet, plan and manage solution implementation and project management leadership, actively monitoring delivery of technology solutions related to strategic and tactical initiatives.

  • Documentation: Help in the development and maintenance of the RIOP and ACP strategy documents for organizational and executive summaries.

Skill Descriptors

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Considerations for Top Candidates:

  • Experience designing, implementing, or support technical infrastructure. (server, storage, network, cloud)

  • Exposure to application development and implementation

  • Demonstrative project management success

  • Experience with organization change management

  • Business transformation experience

  • The primary locations for this position are Decatur, IL and East Peoria, IL

  • This position may require 10% travel.
