We are looking for a Data Science Intern with an entrepreneur's mindset to support a fast-paced and growing data science team working on projects critical to National Security. The position is in Chantilly, VA or Aurora, CO and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS//SCI with Polygraph security clearance in the future. Position is funded and an immediate fill opportunity to start Summer 2025. The Data Science Intern will be responsible for researching, manipulating, and interpreting complex data and analyze results using machine learning, advanced statistics, and other techniques to draw inferences and clearly articulate findings. The position requires a candidate with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, dexterity to stay abreast with new developments in data science and statistical modeling, and the ability to obtain the required security clearance. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, technically inquisitive, possesses strong problem-solving proficiency, and is a clear communicator. The Data Scientist will be expected to learn and leverage emerging technologies including AWS and Git.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform analysis to solve problems; translate problems into data science questions and assist in developing solutions
Clean, process, prepare, and maintain data sets for analysis and modeling
Perform exploratory data analysis to identify relevant patterns and trends
Assist in the development, evaluation, validation, and implementation of statistical models and data science methods such as regression, classification, clustering, and time series to provide answers and insights on key strategic questions
Share and communicate results to audiences of varying technical ability
Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical needs
Basic Qualifications
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related major
Experience with AI/ML.
Experience working with Python/C++ or R programming languages
Experience with SciPy stack or Tidyverse packages
Experience/ knowledge of computer science concepts, data architecture, and experience/knowledge of statistics
Demonstrated experience using statistical and machine learning techniques
Experience with visualizing data using popular packages including Tableau, ggplot or Matplotlib
Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Aptitude for learning new technologies
Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required
US Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems
Prior SIGINT experience
Familiarity with geolocation techniques

Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
