Job Description:
Rocket Test is looking for a Test Technician that wants to work at one of the most exciting jobs at Aerojet Rocketdyne. The Test Technician classifications perform a variety of technical functions related to production test, test article assembly, and rocket and instrumentation test. This could include but is not limited to: test and checkout of test equipment and test procedure development; install, operate, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot instrumentation and controls; conduct moves of Test Articles into and out of conditioning chambers and Test Stands. The correct individual will join a Team that has a Safety First mindset. This is a fast paced job involving testing of all of the Rocket Motors and energetics that are built at our Camden Facility and some from our other facilities around the country. From small motors that can fit in the palm of your hand to Large Solid Propellant Rocket motors that are greater than 20 feet long, Rocket Test is a challenging and exciting place to work.
Essential Functions:
Assist experienced Test Technicians with preparation and set up of testing site for rocket motor testing.
Under direct guidance from a Test Engineer, load the test motor into the Test Stand. Existing certifications/training to operate Forklift is a plus.
Instrument the test motor per the test plan under direct supervision of Engineering team. Soldier experience and/or NASA Soldier Certificate a plus.
Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
Assist with motor moves into Conditioning Chambers at all hours of day or night as required.
Learn to set and program Conditioning Chamber temperature per Test Plan. Previous experience with Espec controls is a plus.
Must be able to lift moderate weight. Outdoor work is required both summer and winter conditions.
Must be willing to work non standard work week ( Friday - Sunday)
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
Technical School Diploma or Associates Degree in Engineering or Science preferred
Previous experience with Energetic handling and manufacturing a plus
Electronics and Electrical circuit background preferred.
Experience with PLC programming
Experience with Military Standard Testing (Mil STD 810)
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Formal technical education/training
