Job Description:
L3Harris is looking to hire a mechanical design engineer to perform design activities in support of developing special-mission/special-purpose aircraft from existing airframes as well as airborne sensor product development.
Essential Functions:
Mechanical designing activities shall be but not limited to 3D modeling/drafting of aircraft interior and airframe integration components and related tooling/ground support equipment as well as interior monuments, racks, workstations, sensors and LRUs (line replaceable unit) components.
This position also requires fabrication and installation engineering liaison support as required during these phases of product development.
Qualifications:
Effectively communicate as part of a multi-disciplinary team working together to ensure that the aircraft systems contribute to the overall success of the program.
Some working knowledge of the commercial or military airworthiness process
Requires broad theoretical knowledge. Bachelor's degree Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 4 years related experience.
All candidates must be US Citizens and either have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance. Must have good communication skills and be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime, as required. Travel, up to 15%, or as required.
Through internships, hobbies, or previous work experience they will have demonstrated that they can conceive a design from start to finish.
Candidates must have well-developed skills using standard MS Office tools as well as some experience using a Solid Modeling CAD program.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Siemens NX, PTC Creo, and Dassault SolidWorks experience is preferred over other CAD programs.
