Job Description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Under the direction of the Director, the External Services Billing Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of overall office environment/activities. Duties require work flow analysis, process improvement, problem-solving and project management skills. Reports to department leadership.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs a variety of department administration support and clerical functions.

  • Coordinates data and compiles reports.

  • Communicates with internal and external clients.

  • Identifies, recommends, and implements work process improvements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • None required.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred or certification in medical office billing.

  • Minimum of five years medical billing and follow-up experience in a hospital patient accounting department, physician office or medical services company.

  • Must be familiar with CPT/HCPCS coding.

  • Must possess interpersonal skills both oral and written necessary to develop and maintain internal working relationships and a variety of external working relationships with collection agencies, attorneys, etc.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
