The Section Manager 2 is responsible for the production stores inventory held in Lafayette in support of the nearby engine manufacturing facility. This leader is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records in support of Caterpillar's financial records as well as providing a clear signal to the assembly line for production. They are also responsible for managing the onboarding team who is responsible for training and certifying employees on the various types of MHE used in the warehouse. The Section Manager 2 is accountable for engaging and developing the team members.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Monitor and improve safety at the facility; prioritize Onboarding activities and inventory tasks to eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean product environment
Responsible for inventory counts in support of the overall Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) program as well as reactive counts required to resolve inventory discrepancies
Able to lead the team in root cause corrective actions to not only fix inventory inaccuracies, but also to drive process improvements to maintain accurate records
Responsible for working grief - rack grief, aged in transits, etc. to ensure all material is accounted for
Determines overtime need, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value added activities
Responsible for training and development of staff, time keeping, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of logistics or supply chain experience
A high school diploma, GED or its equivalent
Prior supervisory experience
Top Candidates will also have:
1+ years prior experience in strategic planning or project management experience
Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department
Must be proficient with all Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
Experience with Inventory Record Accuracy
An associate's or 4-year degree in supply chain or a related field

This position does not offer relocation
This role may require you to work outside of normal work hours including overtime and alternate shifts dependent upon business needs
