What We're Looking For

We are seeking a talented Architect, Planner, or Engineer to join our dynamic team of critical thinkers focused on Aviation Terminals and Airport Facilities. Those interested in joining our team should be proactive and approach design challenges with a willingness to explore lots of ideas. This position will be well-supported by HNTB's aviation practice, and will be highly collaborative with our aviation engineering and architecture practices.

This Position is responsible for specific technical design and planning aspects of an assigned project including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions. Assigned to handle specific technical design aspects of a project for which he/she is responsible including investigating, evaluating, and recommending the design solutions that best meet the client's needs. Performs assignments under direction with limited responsibility for design. A strong curiosity for, and broad understanding of Interdisciplinary aviation related knowledge including airspace, aircraft, utility systems, office planning, and maintenance facilities will aid in an individual's success. This position has the potential for rapid career growth and escalation within a thriving market sector.

What You'll Do:

  • Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.

  • Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.

  • Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.

  • Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.

  • Participates in client meetings and interactions.

  • Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.

  • Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.

  • Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects

  • Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.

  • Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience, or

  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Preparing drawings, reports, presentations to support HNTB's wide-ranging aviation planning projects coast-to-coast.

  • Develop airside, landside, and terminal planning exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit.

  • Use of Microsoft word or InDesign to author and compile technical reports.

  • Use of Microsoft Excel to analyze complex data sets.

  • Support project managers and deputy project managers to deliver extraordinary value for our clients.

  • Attend meetings and document decisions.

What We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Aviation Studies, Business, Project Management, Planning, Urban Design or related field.

  • Four (4) years relevant experience

  • Mastery of rendering software such as Lumion, Enscape, or similar

  • Sketchup Skills

  • AutoCAD/Revit skills

  • Experience with Aviation Projects

  • Strong technical writing skills

The approximate pay range for New York is $68,768.91 - $128,941.71. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
