GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this internship is to provide an on-the-job training program for high school and college students as well as entry level professional who are interested in a clinical career in healthcare. In addition, this program exposes students to job opportunities within CHKD while simultaneously developing professional and clinical skills/knowledge focused on patient safety, communication skills, and other competencies essential to successful. The Intern will work under the general direction of an assigned Clinical Mentor who will provide a variety of uncomplicated clinical treatments and services for assigned patients in an outpatient clinic. Reports to the department management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Responsibilities :
Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient populations based on standard work.
Takes vital signs under direction of clinical mentor.
Observes medicals procedures, clinical documentation and patient education.
Room and facilitate through put of the patient.
Participate in assigned educational activities.
Observes specimen collection, laboratory procedures and medication administration.
Learns and understands proper utilization of operational clinical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Learns and understands scheduling and referral management.
Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must be currently enrolled/matriculating in an accredited health care sciences program.
Minimum commitment of 3 months.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office and patient care environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Occasional exposure to communicable diseases.
