This position requires at least a DoD Top Secret (SCI eligible) and is in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

The Network/Systems Engineer will work on the Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) program providing expertise and support in network engineering. This is a fast-paced and highly challenging position where you will be a member of a team. The Engineer is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational network posture is maintained at local space force bases. This includes the following activities related to maintaining situational awareness and initiating actions to improve or restore network cybersecurity posture. Local Travel 25% between Colorado Springs and Denver. The Network/Systems Engineer will:

  • Knowledge of VMware, Palo Alto, Cisco and Juniper, Virtual Routing and Forwarding/VRF, 8570 DOD Cert

  • Assist and advise on the engineering, design, integration and delivery of government and/or commercially provided communications services in support of program data requirements

  • Develop program strategies and plans for communications and network technology maturation through phased deliveries. Analyze current comms system capabilities, emerging mission requirements, industry roadmaps, cyber-security initiatives, and future program plans to establish an architecture strategic plan and provide recommendations for the development and deployment of specific solutions from a technical, cost and schedule standpoint

  • Work with government communications service providers (DISA, IC, AFSPC Networks) and commercial service providers (CenturyLink, AT&T, Verizon) for ordering and delivery of services, understanding of their technology roadmaps, and management of program Service Level Agreements

  • Support updates and upgrades to program networks to address obsolescence, vulnerabilities, technology insertion/demonstration, expansion, or system resiliency

  • Assess communications systems and the relationship with Information Assurance, Cryptographic Systems, Data Processing, Storage Systems, Voice and Video systems, and emerging Cloud Services

  • Critical skills include architecture/requirements definition/analysis, engineering/design, fielding/integration, and test/turnover

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory

  • Be forward looking, mission/customer focused and have a bias for action

  • Work proactively, independently as a member of a highly effective technical team while developing approaches to solutions.

  • Travel 25%

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science with strong technical background. Prefer B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering Computer Science, or similar

  • 15 years network systems experience

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification required

  • VMWare, Palo Alto and Active Directory experience

  • Must Have Active Top Secret security clearance

  • CCNA or CCNP Certification

  • Strong technical background in communication, network protocols, and network management

  • In-depth understanding of OSI Model, with emphasis on Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport and Session layers

  • Knowledge of network design (e.g. LAN/WAN, routing protocols, routers) and protocols (e.g., IPv4, BGP, MPLS , VPN, IPSec, DNS) , Multicast routing

  • Layer 2 equipment, protocol and technology (switches, LACP, STP, VLANs)

  • Preferred - working knowledge of Department of Defense mission, activities and terms

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with members of a diverse military and civilian team

  • Work independently with little to no supervision on assigned tasks

  • Comfortable with developing/processing a large amount of documentation in a short period of time

  • Experience with Ansible Too l, WAN/LAN experience
