Position Description
Serco is actively seeking a motivated Safety Representative II to provide safety representation to support Serco-NA within the Continental United States and Worldwide. In this role, you will work with our dynamic team to support critical safety best practices and to continually enhance Serco-NA safety culture. This position is in our Chesapeake, VA Office. Your responsibilities include:
Play a critical role in ensuring the successful monitoring of safety compliance issues and report discrepancies by Investigating incidents, aid with development and completion of corrective actions and prepare applicable reports.
Demonstrate experience in Identifying and leveraging safety best practices to continually enhance safety culture
Demonstrate experience with monitoring safety compliance issues and report discrepancies found though on site/on ship Safety walkthroughs.
Utilize your OSHA, and other applicable courses and be familiar with standard NAVSEA, OSHA, ANSI and EPA standard concepts, practices, and procedures to promote Serco-NA Safety ZERO HARM program.
Understand your responsibilities to inspecting company facilities and making recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations.
Exhibit a strong understanding of safety best practices with your experience and judgement to plan and accomplish and accomplish goals.
Identify, research, investigate, and resolve Safety injury and non-injury incidents root causes
Contribute to all phases of the development and dissemination of Safety Procedures
Work effectively, independently as well as part of a large diverse team.
Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.
Exercise empathy, selflessness, and respect for teammates
Responds to telephone calls, email, and personnel requests for technical support.
Documents, monitors and reports on assigned tasks to ensure a timely resolution.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have the following:
Bachelor'sdegree in safety or related STEM discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum 2 years relevant safety experience; additional four years relevant experience with a HS Diploma may be considered to offset BS degree requirement
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Secret clearance and gain and maintain access to US Govt facilities and private Shipyards
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to deal effectively, comfortably, and confidently with people at all levels of responsibilities, authority, and rank
Ability to facilitate and coordinate efforts with key
Must be willing to travel Worldwide
Have a current US Passport - required
Be willing and able to conduct safety inspections and walkthroughs in Industrial environments (eg ships/submarines in shipyards)
Must have reliable transportation to our Cheasapeake , Virginia office and local customer facilities, bases, shipyards.
Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations related to Safety and Hazardous Materials

OSHA 5410 - Standards for Maritime Industry
OSHA 3095 - Electrical Standards
OSHA 3115 - Fall Protection
OSHA 521 - Industrial Hygiene
Maritime Competent Person
Preferred qualifications and experience:
RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Certification
HAZWOPER Certification
Experience using Sharepoint, EHS Insight, and MS Office suite
ISO 9001 Quality Management experience
