Job Description:
The CatR Digital group is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for bringing world class capabilities to our products and services. With almost one million connected assets worldwide, we're focused on using IoT and other data, advanced analytics, and ML/AI capabilities to help our customers build a better world. To accomplish this, we're deploying analytics that generate insights, recommend optimized decisions, and improve products by intelligently integrating massive quantities of telematics information, transactional records, images, unstructured documents, and other data sources.
JOB DUTIES:
The IoT Analytics Manager is the hands-on manager who demonstrates significant strategic thinking and leads the team of data scientists and engineers working in Unplanned Repairs Analytics. The team focuses on such areas as various analytics projects starting from ground truth discovery for failure identification to Global Services-related solutions and such strategic projects as BaaSS.
The right candidate will be responsible for marrying Enterprise and Business Unit strategy to the opportunities provided by advanced analytics. The IoT Analytics Manager needs to be an excellent communicator and to have shown clear development as a strategic thinker. The right candidate needs to be analytically expert, with firsthand experience designing, implementing, and deploying analytics solutions. The incumbent needs a breadth of knowledge and experience, with deeper experience in at least two domains such as product development, design, marketing, logistics, purchasing, aftermarket, or manufacturing. The individual needs to demonstrate an extremely strong customer focus, strong leadership, and solid initiative.
This role requires technical expertise to supervise and guide highly technical analytics work, assess technical talent, and guide technical employee development. Hands-on work on select projects will be required. This role also requires a long-range focus on business strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, data science, statistics, operations research, econometrics, finance, computer science, or in mathematical areas of physics, electrical and mechanical engineering
Strong expertise in machine learning/AI, their application to data modeling and analysis
5 + years of advanced analytics expertise working with large datasets (focus on time-series and transactional analysis is preferred)
3 + years of leadership experience in a corporate environment developing, deploying, and integrating advanced analytics capabilities to generate demonstrated business value

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong SQL and Python programming skills and familiarity with PowerBI and Tableau
Experience building or working with the popular cloud data and analytics platforms (such as AWS, Azure, etc.) and experience working with database such as Snowflake, SQL server, DB2 and Oracle
Experience operating in Agile environment
Experience working with software developers
Experience working with aftermarket data domains such as STU, Lens, OLGA, WO, Warranty as well as knowledge of telematics data sources such as Product Link
This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL or Champaign, IL offices with flexibility for partial work from home.
