Job Summary:

The Battery New Product Introduction (NPI) Manager is recruiting for the position of Regulatory Project Lead. This position will be accountable for the Voice of the Regulator for the Battery Product Development Team. The successful candidate will work closely with NPI and New Technology Introduction (NTI) Teams, the Caterpillar Corporate Product Compliance Standards & Regulations Team and our Process Partners to ensure compliance of our battery products.

As the Regulatory Project Lead, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Work with Electrification and Advanced Power Solutions (E&APS), corporate and electrification component compliance teams to understand applicable directives, regulations and standards that must be met along with other compliance considerations by product and region. Target markets include non-road, rail, marine, stationary applications for worldwide sales opportunities.

  • Work with Electrification and Advanced Power Solutions (E&APS), corporate and electrification component compliance teams to document Caterpillar interpretation of the applicable directives, regulations, and standards along with certification requirements including design, Software and testing documentation.

  • Accountable for Voice of Regulator documentation and coordinating with the NPI teams to achieve the associated project deliverables.

  • Working with the NPI and NTI teams to maintain accurate and up to date project planning documentation.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to ensure clarity of actions required to meet regulatory deliverables. Provide leadership and governance in the resolution of issues and gaps.

  • Ownership of compliance requirements for battery NTI, NPI and NMI programs including communicating status in NPI Program Gateway Reviews and Stakeholder updates (LPSD Gas NPI processes).

  • Collect and facilitate the storage of compliance documentation for Battery products. Facilitate updating of stored compliance documentation based on changing regulations.

  • Accountability Includes early leaner, prototype, pilot and production regulatory requirements, production marking, and exportation/importation shipping compliance.

Requirements for this role include:

  • An engineering degree or associated technical degree with experience working in a product development environment.

  • Strong commitment to product safety and quality, we excellent communications and influencing skills that are effective with all levels of the organization.

  • A self-directed person with a track record of prioritizing tasks to manage multiple projects and successfully lead work groups to achieve project plan dates.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Technical understanding of batteries along with an understanding of directives, regulations, and standards applicable to batteries.

  • Proven ability to build strategic working relationships, understand business constraints, and resolve conflict through compromise and consensus building.

  • An ability to review directives, regulations, and product standards, and provide guidance to NPI, NTI Design Engineers, Validation Engineers and other business functions.

  • Experience of developing technical reports, that demonstrate product capability or compliance to directives, regulations, and product standards.

Additional Information:

  • This position will close on 8/26/2022 at 11:59PM.

  • Travel requirements may be minimal.

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL, Lafayette, IN but alternative work locations near a Caterpillar facility may be considered.
