Job Description:
The Public Safety and Private Communications (PSPC) sector of the L3 Harris Communication Systems (CS) segment is seeking a program manager to join our Hydra Team. The Hydra Team builds radio shipsets for above and below deck communications for many types of Navy vessels. Daily activities include interfacing with various federal agencies, laying out schedules and plans, managing the cross functions (systems engineering, factory technicians, financial analysis, etc.) and overall ownership of the successful delivery to the customer that is within scope, time, and budget. Other duties may include overseeing qualification testing of the equipment to ensure it can withstand close range impacts.
Essential Functions:
Scope Management: Ability to interpret contracts and maintain the scope baseline.
Schedule Management: Familiarity and use of MS Project for building and maintaining project schedules.
Cost Management: Ability to work with Excel spreadsheets and a program financial analyst for forecasting spend and controlling cost.
Risk Management: Use of a risk register to identify risk, determine financial exposure, and develop plans to mitigate risk.
Change Management: Ability to recognize and document potential changes in a Change Log and drive Change Orders that are profitable to the business.
Communication Management: Excellent verbal and written skills as this position is both outward facing (customer) and inward facing (internal team.)
Action and Issue Management: Use of an action/issue register to drive internal and external team meetings to keep progress moving forward.
Technical Acumen: Must have prior communications background or the desire to learn the basics of our radio infrastructure and radio products.
Clearance: -Secret- security level clearance required or ability to obtain this level of clearance.
Travel: Travel is very limited in this position as the scope of work is generally to build radio systems in a factory, test onsite with the government, and ship the systems to shipyards for installation by a Prime Contractor such as General Dynamics. Travel is estimated to be <10%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years relevant Program Management experience. Master's degree and 2 years relevant Program Management experience. In lieu of degree, 8 years relevant experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
Former military, especially Navy, with involvement in some form of communications while serving.
Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings. Former AutoCAD a plus.
PMP Certified.
Proficient and practical knowledge of Program Management.
