Job Description:

The Cybersecurity Data Architect is responsible for defining the relationships, flows and implementation of business (processes/activities/functions, information), applications, data and technology in the Cybersecurity enterprise and the transitional process necessary for implementing technology in response to changing business needs. The Data Architect will create and maintain architectural best practices, addressing application, data, and technology in the context of business process across defined business functions(s) or technology domain(s). A data architect understands the business needs, explores the existing data structure, and creates a blueprint for building an integrated framework of easily accessible, secure data aligned with business strategy.

Responsibilities

Key areas of accountability include participating in the development of Architecture Solutions for Strategic Cybersecurity projects and programs; providing input into technology roadmaps and application evolution plans; acting as a researcher and evaluator of new technology, information, or integration standards. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing and implementing an overall Cybersecurity organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes. The strategy includes data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems.

  • Identifying data sources, both internal and external, and working out a plan for data management that is aligned with Cybersecurity organizational data strategy.

  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors for the smooth functioning of the enterprise data system.

  • Managing end-to-end data architecture, from selecting the platform, designing the technical architecture, and developing the application to finally testing and implementing the proposed solution.

  • Planning and execution of big data solutions using technologies such as Hadoop.

  • Developing architectural approaches and solutions, leading architectural reviews and recommending how to proceed with technology (replace, retire, maintain, etc.).

  • Defining and managing the flow of data and dissemination of information within the Cybersecurity organization.

  • Partnering with other Architects to ensure consistent translation of enterprise architecture decisions to solution architects, conduct solution design reviews, and arbitrate solution design conflicts across domains.

  • Integrating technical functionality, ensuring data accessibility, accuracy, and security.

  • Conducting a continuous audit of data management system performance, refine whenever required, and report immediately any breach or loopholes to the stakeholders.

  • Participate in the design and implementation of enterprise data model and metadata structures.

  • Defining which data is extracted and the rules by which it is transformed for simple to moderately complex projects.

  • Participating in the development and maintenance of current and planned state architecture blueprints.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or other degrees in related fields.

  • 5+ years' experience as a Data Architect

  • 5+ years' Data Warehouse experience. Candidate must have experience with designing Data Warehouse schemas (Data Vault, 3NF model) as well as Data Mart schemas (Dimensional model)

  • 5+ years' experience integrating data from disparate sources.

  • Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Broad understanding of information technology topics.

  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.

  • Expertise with normalized OLTP, MDM and DW Dimensional modeling techniques, Star & Snowflake schemas, modeling slowly changing dimensions and role-playing dimensions, dimensional hierarchies, and data classification.

  • Expertise in Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Security, MDM, Data Archival and Data Migration strategies using appropriate tools.

  • Proficient in Data Governance practices and experience.

  • Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools (e.g. Informatica,Talend, Pentaho).

  • Hands-on experience with BI tools and reporting software.

  • Hands-on experience with analytical tools, languages, or libraries (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Mahout).

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment with short deadlines, interruptions, and multiple tasks/projects occurring simultaneously.

  • Must be able to work independently and have skills in planning, strategy, estimation, and scheduling.

  • Strong problem solving, influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
