Tanzu Observability by Wavefront (SaaS based offering) a core component of VMware's leading-edge Modern Apps Platform BU is looking for a seasoned, highly technical, and customer friendly candidate to work with customers on managing their applications and the services that application uses (such as EKS/RDS/SQS/Aurora - similar combinations on Azure and GCP).As part of the role, you not only understand the customer's business and technical needs and increase Wavefront's SaaS usage (-sell-) but also become the customer's key technical advisor for operations on public cloud, app management (DevOps), and K8S. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a new member of Wavefront's Solution Architect (known as SVE internally) team you will:

  • Engage regularly (daily) with customers using Wavefront to help accelerate the realization of their business and technical objectives through successful use of Tanzu Observability.

  • Ensure customers are using key Wavefront use cases properly and efficiently

  • Cultivate key relationships with technical stakeholders at customers through continuous engagement, focusing on delivering positive solutions, meeting their business outcomes, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.

  • Customer Champion and advocate

  • Serve as the first line of contact in existing customers for features, use, how-to, solutions development.

  • Proactively identify risks to the customer achieving their stated business goals and work with the Wavefront team to build a risk mitigation plan

  • Build deep relationships with people within customer environments at not only the technical level but also the business level

  • New use case and solutions development

  • Developing new use cases based on customer interaction and market trends (not just identify but also build out prototypes as needed)

  • Working with product management and engineering to ensure speedy development and release on Wavefront

  • Adoption

  • Ensuring rapid time to value by timely and successful user training on existing and new features

  • Piloting POCs and betas as needed to expand usage of Wavefront

  • Proactively review customer consumption to help customers optimize their investment and grow Wavefront business

  • Lead up-sell efforts by identifying additional use cases and positioning new solution offerings to clients

  • Evangelism

  • Development of blogs, opensource contribution, etc - As a trusted advisor to several customers, you will learn about use cases, issues in operations and how to solve them. We expect this knowledge to be translated to blogs, talks at conferences, etc. What skills do we look for?

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex customer relationships in a technology service industry

  • Excellent communication skills, including with internal and external stakeholders and all levels of management

  • Directly support critical customer concerns and deliver workshops to train customers, partners, and the field

  • Proven record of driving issues to resolution with great customer satisfaction

  • Ability to manage multiple customer accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously

  • Willing to be a hands-on contributor and a proactive team player

  • Customer management / customer success experience preferably in SaaS organization

  • Ability to travel occasionally when needed and/or spend significant time interacting with customers remotely on solutions engagements

  • Excellent critical thinking and advanced troubleshooting skills

  • Participate and partner with product development to help define and contribute to development of solutions based on customer requirements What do we look for in your experience?

  • Current or former Sales engineer / Solutions Architect is ideally suited or Customer Success Engineer or Professional Services experience

  • 2 years+ knowledge and hands on with AWS/Azure and/or GCP (Public cloud certifications a plus like AWS SAA, etc.)

  • Knowledge of application architecture and its components (preferably some knowledge of programming language like Python/Java/etc.

  • Knowledge of DBs like mySQL/Postgres/RDS, Redis, etc.

  • Knowledge of technologies like Kafka, etc.

  • Knowledge of application life cycle and management (error budgets, CI/CD operations, etc)

  • 2+ years of K8S experience a strong plus. (CKA ideal)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experience What are the benefits and perks of working at VMware?
