KBR is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's (GSFC) next generation satellite laser ranging system, the Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) system.

The Senior Electrical Systems Engineer will support the KBR hardware team with focus on subsystem electronics and crossover into the areas of gimbal and telescope, laser, radar, and single photon receiver. They will also research, develop, and designs electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for government and commercial purposes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Executes specific engineering assignments under the direction and guidance of higher level engineers

  • Works autonomously directing and coordinating the work of engineers and other technical personnel engaged in the compilation of engineering data, construction, and testing of models, designing component circuits, writing reports and test procedures

  • Carry out predetermined concepts and procedures for equipment or component design, testing, construction and installation, engineering research and study programs

  • May act as leader for a small single function team; represent the organization related to a specific project

Travel: This position will involve both domestic and international travel for preparation and installation of SLR systems. Ability to obtain and keep a passport is required along with other travel requirements relevant to US regulations and regulations of countries to be entered for work.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • B S in Electrical Engineering or related field such as Optical Engineering or Physics

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic design requirements definition and verification, subsystem and circuit analysis, test plan and procedure development, and system integration

  • Knowledge of analog and digital electrical circuits, PCB fabrication and testing, electronic packaging design and tools, fabrication, assembly, integration and testing, reliability and environmental effects, EMI/EMC considerations

  • Capable and comfortable working on a fast paced and challenging project with ability to adapt to evolving requirements

    Preferred Experience, & Skills:

  • Proficient with computer aided design software such as AutoCAD, P-CAD, SOLIDWORKS, Zeemax, Altium, Or CAD

  • Education, training and or experience with lasers, optics, or telescopes

  • Knowledge and experience in the application of ANSI 136.6, ANSI Z136.1, etc. to indoor and outdoor laser safety.

  • Experience and knowledge in the determination of MPE, NOHD, LFHR, CHR, and SHR highly desired

  • Proficient with Microsoft Project
