Here at Building & Construction Products Division (BCP), the Electrical & Electronics Systems and Component Engineering Team is chartered to provide intelligent, reliable, cost effective Electrical and Electronics components and systems to BCP Prime Product Groups for use in Caterpillar machines across the world. We are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to support electrical and electronic component development.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering solutions to our customers with the design, development, and integration of components. You will work with teams within BCP and across Caterpillar to gather requirements for and lead the design of electrical components ensuring robust quality through validation and testing. These solutions will be evaluated on the criteria of both meeting customer requirements as well as creating an optimized set of solutions that best meet Caterpillar business objectives. You will provide technical leadership that will shape the future of Caterpillar's BCP product offerings.

What You Will Do:

  • Leadership of our team developing operator controls and electro-mechanical components for all BCP products.

  • Designing and fully validating components in this category.

  • Facilitating the requirements gathering from the product groups that will use these components.

  • Collaborating with enterprise partners and suppliers for optimizing the solutions for the business needs.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering (Electrical engineering degree strongly preferred)

  • Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

  • Technical Excellence: Candidate must have strong analytical skills and have the ability to use various design software. Incumbent will develop and provide solutions for significant technical issues related to quality, velocity, and cost objectives.

  • Project Management: Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills are required. Willing and able to collaborate with international teams in various time zones.

  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information and solutions with internal and external stakeholders.

Top Candidates Will Have :

  • Fundamental understanding of mobile machine operation, ideally construction equipment and operations.

  • Self-starter and highly motivated.

  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering projects.

  • Demonstrated collaboration with cross functional teams to achieve goals.

  • Experience with operator controls design and application.

  • Experience with electromechanical devices, design, and application.

  • Knowledge of Print Cirict Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing design processes.

  • Strong communication skills, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with a culturally diverse work group.

  • Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electrical component failure modes.

  • 5-10% travel is expected (domestic and international)
