What You Will Do:

As the Information Technology Manager (Transportation) within our Logistics Information Services (LIS) team , you will be responsible for staff supervision, portfolio management, and product owner accountability for Domestic Inbound, Prime Product Outbound, and Global Materials Management Transportation IT services supporting Integrated Logistics Services (ILS). To accomplish the goals associated with the role, the selected candidate must establish and maintain a close relationship with the Transportation business partners. The incumbent will be an Information Technology Manager in the Integrated Logistics Information Services (IL/IS) division and manage a large portfolio of transformation and development projects, as well as support services working across a global team of IT professionals, business partners and software vendors.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Understand Transportation business processes and drive the implementation of technology to deliver value.

  • Supervise a global team of project managers and functional/technical analysts including all aspects of performance management.

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of the Transportation strategy, portfolio and supporting transformation initiatives.

  • Manage product ownership of all Transportation products and services.

  • Responsible for implementations, and deployment of development projects for Transportation systems globally.

  • Act as a program/portfolio manager to achieve overall program success.

  • Successfully execute projects while providing updates to stakeholders using effective communication and change management.

  • Manage project governance, financial forecasting and budgeting, resource planning, and risk management.

  • Provide direction and guidance for portfolio execution, monitor status, and report progress to stakeholders and leaders.

  • Champion customer focused continuous improvement objectives and transition plans for solution support.

  • Manage business relationships by driving alignment in goals, strategy, priorities, and results.

  • Manage vendor relationship with software and service providers.

  • Engage with business partners to identify business needs, develop business cases, identify strategic plans/directions and manage product and project portfolio budget.

  • Partner closely with Caterpillar IT, vendors, suppliers and business teams to ensure business needs are met and all projects meet Quality, Velocity and Cost goals.

  • Champion IT controls, cyber-security and ITSM processes to ensure security and quality of IT services.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (IT), Information Systems, or related field.

  • 10 years of progressive IT experience including a minimum of 3 years of project management experience.

  • Strong project and program management experience, process discipline and team leadership skills.

  • Proven experience in a job role that demonstrates excellent decision-making skills, problem solving skills, leadership capabilities, and experience leading global teams.

  • Strong business relationship management skills, customer service focus and results driven.

  • Experience working effectively in a fast-paced global environment.

  • Experience managing diversified cross-functional teams along with strong oral and written communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with full systems development life cycle and support of customer applications.

  • Experience with traditional waterfall/Agile development methodologies.

  • The ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.

What You Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Previous supervisor or portfolio management experience, leading an application development team, a large multi-functional team, and/or highly skilled technical resources.

  • Experience or understanding of Transportation business to supply chain management.

  • PMP Certification.

  • 6 Sigma Black Belt certification.

  • Experience delivering major business transformation programs.

  • Understanding of systems development lifecycle, architecture, and design.

  • Ability to communicate issues/concerns with strong business acumen.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and work to aggressive timelines.

  • Strong planning/organizing and prioritization skills.

  • Strong initiative and accountability.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, and intellectual curiosity.

  • Strong people management skills and a focus on developing others.
