Production Manager - Waterfront/Maritime Modernization - Chesapeake, VA
Serco supports the US Navy as a prime which supports defense work. Our team upgrades, maintains and manages the software that runs aircraft carrier systems to ensure the safety of the sailors and to allow them to perform their missions successfully.
Serco is seeking to bring on an experienced Waterfront/Maritime Modernization Production Manager to support various programs supporting US Naval and Military contracts. As the, Production Manager , you will perform the following typical tasks:
Provide direction on projects from inception through completion and to provide technical and managerial assistance on all aspects of project management to comply with the technical requirements of the contract for the customer.
Manages and coordinates technical and administrative staff by assigning, scheduling, prioritizing, coordinating, and facilitating multiple tasks.
Evaluates performance of subcontractors and staff in terms of actual and planned task schedules and resource requirements.
Reviews work for quality assurance.
Composes memoranda, reports, and other documentation highlighting project steps and status for daily and weekly meetings with customer.
Attends meetings and makes presentations about project status and work commitments.
Ensures training of all staff members and instructs them on customer's methods, procedures, and standards.
Evaluates, develops or implements procedures regarding project documentation and development.
Troubleshoots technical problems and takes corrective action.
Reviews employee schedules and timecards.
Participates in long-range planning, analysis, and program design.
Participates in the planning and design of new projects as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have the following:
Requires a Bachelor Degree or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent of 8 to 10 yearsof installation experience.
Have an OSHA 10 certification or able to obtain the certification.
Must be able to have the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation.
Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety critical.
Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
Applicant must be able to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift.
Applicant must be willing to work second shift and willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks.
Ability to travel if necessary.
This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens, be able to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
