Description:

As a Staff Accountant II, you will independently perform accounting functions which require preparation, analysis, and communication of issues of normal to high complexity that support Caterpillar business processes. This job is a part of the Resource Industries Operations and Product (RIOP) Consolidations Team.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

Will provide technical expertise and perform complex accounting work that supports business processes. Additionally, this position will:

  • Consolidates and analyzes RIOP Monthly material cost results

  • Prepares and submits Material Cost reporting for ABP & RBM submissions

  • Works closely with the RI Segment team and supports various requests

  • Providing insights and analysis on meeting cost objectives for the departments supported - Performs analysis of accounting data to support management needs

  • Resolve issues independently

  • Conducting results reviews and analysis for operational metrics

  • Coordinates with RIOP product lines for various initiatives

  • Some Axiom report development, as applicable

Incumbents will be exposed to a variety of accounting functions and will accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, analyze various outputs, advise others (both accountants and non-accountants), resolve issues, and communicate these outcomes. Works on challenging, medium to high-risk issues and makes decisions and recommendations as appropriate.

Possible areas of responsibility are varied, including:

  • Internal management accounting, including profit center, service center, distribution services, strategic business, integrated manufacturing, and component business unit reporting

  • Estimating various forecast and budget scenarios as needed based on changing business conditions

  • Financial accounting including consolidation, analysis and communication of division or multiple business units' results/explanations

  • Presentation and explanations of results to management

Accounting tasks are of high complexity such as business unit consolidations, system support and development. Advises and provides guidance to multiple functional areas and levels of authority. Incumbents will demonstrate knowledge and ability to handle accounting issues independently.

Basic Requirements:

  • 4-year degree, preferable in accounting

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience

  • Demonstrates very good communication skills

Additional Details:

  • Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

  • The preferred location for this role is in Peoria, IL. However, we are open to considering any RIOP location in the United States including Tucson, AZ; Aurora, IL; South Milwaukee, WI; Decatur, IL; or Denison, TX.
