WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Paints & Chemicals Inspection Coordinator for our Newark, NJ or New York, NY office.
Your Impact
Determine data collection methods for extracting, identifying, and compiling chemical and environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, and other material for research projects, investigations, and surveys.
Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, remedy, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination.
Oversee equipment/tool performance and inventory control.
Work with management to develop action plans and for larger scale pollution, corrosion, hazardous waste, and environmental control programs.
Provide chemical and environmental risk identification and assessment, offering input with moderate to high-level threat mitigation activities.
Assist with overseeing cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Interact with existing and potential clients in a confident and professional manner.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related discipline.
5 to 7 years of experience working as a Chemist.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Analytical chemistry skills, and proficient with research techniques, spectroscopy, chromatography, and spectrophotometer required.
Working knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.
Working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree is preferred.
Project/Task management, project controls, and administration expertise for public agency transit and rail programs.
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $72,800.00 - $127,380
