**This internship is offered in a hybrid format - working virtually as well as in person onsite at the Serco headquarters office in Herndon, VA. Serco follows all CDC state and local COVID-19 recommendations and ensures the safety of all on-site employees. **

Serco's Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. STEP emphasizes developing the workforce of the future. Our goal is to help you build a career roadmap that provides you with challenging and rewarding learning experiences with Serco.

Serco offers internship opportunities across the following three career tracks: Business, Technical, and Engineering. Our 2022 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada and begin on May 23 rd and conclude on August 12 th , with 1 week off July 4 th - 8 th . You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you - working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays

In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company which provides training to better prepare you for a full-time career. These training sessions range from finance, personality in the workplace, presentation skills, resume building, and more. In addition, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Because of that, each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working. Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

To align with that, Serco has an exciting internship opportunity to support the CEO and Executive sponsored Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Program which is responsible for leading Serco's commitment to contributing positively to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) domains.

As the ESG Intern, you will focus your support on researching, implementing, and assessing Environmental Sustainability and Social Responsibility related actions identified by our newly established ESG work group. This group is collaborative cross functional team with representation from HR, HSE, facilities, procurement, legal, finance, IT and risk/assurance.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn how corporate social responsibility impacts a company's missions and objectives. This will be a great opportunity for someone who is innovative and driven by environmental stewardship. Over the course of the summer, you will network and interface with critical business leaders to include our CEO and members of our Executive Management Team (EMT). You will also learn how to serve as a liaison to the business and collaborate with peers to create effective solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct research to connect the dots between Serco Group environmental sustainability measures and Serco Inc. (U.S. & Canada) recommended actions

  • Propose solutions to enhance Serco's environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, graphs, proposals, studies, and correspondence.

  • Innovate and help to further develop internal environmental awareness and action campaigns.

  • Research industry standards for environmental & social program performance with special emphasis sustainable procurement.

  • Share research with our North American and Global leadership.

  • Work closely with Senior Leaders and reports directly into the Vice President of ESG.

Qualifications

To be sucessful in this role:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Preferred fields of study: Environmental Sciences, Business or a related field of study.

  • Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with SharePoint Designer and InfoPath a plus.

  • Experience in other O365 apps such as Power BI and Power Automate a plus.

  • Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail.

  • Strong customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating in a team environment.

  • Passion for learning with a wide degree of creativity and curiosity.
