Job Description:
Responsibilities of the incumbents are across functional lines with individuals assigned in new program development and/or maintenance of existing data platforms, applications, monitoring tools, or operational capabilities.
Competent to perform all data related tasks, and development assignments
Develop new monitoring solutions and automations to accelerate issue detection and correction
Monitor pipeline execution for failures or anomalies, using a variety of tools and methods.
Works directly on complex data/application/technical problem identification and resolution
Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.
Drives technical issue correction and resolution focused on Service Level Agreements
Liaise with designers, engineers, and support teams to improve data pipeline performance & reliability
Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness
Identifies and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team
Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to
ensure timely, quality results.
Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
Basic qualifications:
Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
3 years or more of experience in software development or data engineering, with a focus on data quality, data warehousing, or AWS cloud operations
Top candidates will also have:
Robust experience with AWS services (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Sagemaker, IAM)
Strong knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycle across traditional data warehouses, relational databases, operational data stores, business intelligence reporting, and big data analytics
Strong SQL, Python and/or Java technical development skillset
Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, data modeling, and data architecture concepts
Ability to comprehend conceptual and logical data models, as well as business/transformation rules
Experience with data cataloging tools such as Collibra
Knowledge of data technology products and components for Big Data and Cloud (AWS, Data Lakes, and similar).
Experience with solution integration or solution architecture practices
XML and JSON file format knowledge
Ability to work collaboratively in a complex, rapidly changing, and culturally diverse environment.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where digital is still evolving as a core offering
