What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB's growing Design Build Organization! We are seeking candidates for a Senior Transit Project Manager with demonstrated experience on fast-paced Design Build (DB) infrastructure projects. This DB Senior Transit Project Manager role is a key member of project leadership teams, responsible for accomplishing HNTB's 4 for 4 performances objectives: quality work, on time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction.

This opportunity involves overall responsibility for leading the development and execution of the project management plan, while building and maintaining effective and meaningful client relationships. This position serves as a project leader, responsible for managing and delivering all aspects of one or more mega ($5M+) and/or super mega ($25M+) projects including technical aspects, operations, contracting, project controls, quality, risk and change management. The DB Senior Transit Project Manager implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.

  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.

  • Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience

  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects

What You'll Bring:

  • Successful experience in winning, contracting, and successfully delivering large/complex transit DB project(s) with construction costs ranging from $1-$3 billion for a major transit agency, while serving as the lead interface with the client.

  • Demonstrated design leadership acumen in the multidisciplinary aspects of transit design including: civil and track, rail systems and stations architecture.

  • Leading large design teams inside and outside of HNTB including sub-consultants.

  • Identifying and handling risk and change management independently.

  • Leveraging HNTB and client controls systems to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.

  • Leading HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.

What We Prefer:

  • Project management experience delivering several Design Build transit projects

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • 15 years relevant experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Certification
