Land Acquisition Coordinator

Description

The Land Acquisition Coordinator coordinates the acquisition of land rights from state and federal agencies to meet Georgia Power's real estate needs.

Our Corporate office is located in Atlanta, Georgia; however, this position involves extensive travel and the successful candidate's work location may be anywhere in the state of Georgia. The successful candidate may elect for this position to be located in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Power Corporate Headquarters building or based out of their residential home. Some overnight travel (up to 50%) is required with this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Acquire land rights from state and federal agencies in an efficient manner to meet Georgia Power's real estate needs by using excellent negotiating skills and accurately documenting property rights and contact notes in a timely manner

  • Coordinate the activities of land agents and/or contract agents who assist with said acquisitions

  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills while coordinating with various business units (Power Delivery, Land Engineering, Land Research, Region Distribution, Centralized Engineering Services, Renewables, Key Accounts, GRID, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key business contacts at various state and federal agencies

  • Participate in collaborative events (i.e., public information meetings, location committee meetings, etc.) and monthly update meetings

Job Requirements:

Education Requirements

  • College degree preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Georgia's driver's license

Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience in purchasing land rights from state and federal agencies

  • Familiarity with various property-related documents, including deeds, easements, lease agreements, rights of entry, license agreements, permits, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws pertaining to land and the acquisition of land rights

  • Comprehensive knowledge of due diligence documents, including title reports, appraisals, surveys, and parcel maps

  • Working knowledge of Southern Company computer systems, including LIMS 2.0, Primavera, and TEAMS

  • Excellent negotiating skills

  • Demonstrated leadership ability

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills (ability to balance different tasks and multiple projects while meeting hard deadlines)

  • Working knowledge of transmission, overhead and underground distribution, and renewables projects is preferred
