Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as our Collections Specialist for a rapidly growing and dynamic property management organization. The Collections Specialist is responsible for property collections, forwarding outstanding balances to the appropriate party once attempts to collect have been exhausted, setting up and executing payment agreements for current and prior residents, and posting rent payments. Accountabilities:
Contacting current residents with outstanding rent balances to improve overall collections for each site.
Setting up and executing payment agreements for current and prior residents. Monitoring for compliance with agreements and taking action when needed.
Forwarding outstanding balances to collections once internal attempts to collect are exhausted.
Ensure outstanding balances are written off timely and correctly from resident account ledgers.
Post employee rent deduction payments to resident account ledgers.
Post payments received from one property to another property to compensate for the discount benefit employees receive for living onsite.
Post payments received by local Housing authorities
Post and properly allocate payments received for former accounts (bad debt or attorney checks)
Other tasks or duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance
Who You Are:
Thorough understanding of Landlord Tenant Law
Ability to execute compassionate but firm collection efforts
Strong accounting acumen (debits and credits)
Detail oriented, organized
Ability to work independently
Above-average ability to communicate with co-workers and residents both verbally and in writing.
Computer skills and ability to learn specialized software, including Entrata and Nexus.
Candidates will be required to pass a criminal background investigation and drug screening.
