Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 3-6 months you will work toward completing?
First 30 days of employment: Become familiar with VMware CIBG Product portfolio , GTM Strategy , Industry & Market position, Business planning & performance, Use-Cases, Cloud Economics, Messaging and Positioning
First 60 days: Familiarize yourself with key members of the team, primary cross-functional groups, high priority initiatives, and become comfortable with the operating cadence of the organization. Identify a roadmap to meet key business objectives for CIBG Product Market Strategy
First 180 days: Start executing on the roadmap with impactful initiatives to amplify all areas of CIBG Product Market Strategy with business engineering efforts to drive velocity, cloud economics, GTM Strategy, business planning and strategic interlocks with GTM teams

Public Cloud Solutions with AWS , Microsoft Azure , Google , Oracle and Alibaba
Local Cloud Solutions with VMWare Cloud Foundation, VMC on Dell , VMC on Outpost , Dell Apex
VMware Cloud Provider Program - VCPP with 4000+ partners
Compute , Storage and Availability Portfolio with vSphere, vSAN , VCDR , VSR , SRM
This highly influential senior leader will lead a strong team responsible for driving product market strategy efforts impacting the initiatives that aligns directly with top priorities for CIBG in accelerating :Business Velocity for all product and solutions through each RTM/GTM Establishing the value of VMware cloud with compelling Cloud Economics Product market development and growth with key technology and alliance partners
Responsibilities of the Senior Director, Product Market Strategy - included, but are not limited to, the following:
Market Strategy:
Lead CIBG business engineering to define growth vectors and levers that impact business results across customers, consumption, revenue
Lead business velocity initiatives with cross-functional stakeholder alignment in Product , Marketing , Sales, Channel , CS,
Deliver strategy insights and engagements that informs and supports Sales, PM, PMM efforts
Identify and communicate business insights to support goal setting and business targets in Annual and Long Range planning efforts
Business Analytics:
Deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly industry and market insights to help shape business strategy , risks , opportunities and growth plans
Define and deliver focused analytics that deliver e2e insights across demand , pipeline, deals, customers , consumption
Deep data driven insights on installed base, workloads , customer and market segmentation and trends
Perform continuous business health measurement, root cause and early warning with trends and loss analysis
Cloud Economics:
Create and operationalize the economic value framework for CIBG portfolio of products and services for customers
Establish and communicate the VMware TCO proposition for customers across on premise, edge , partner and public clouds
Develop models and tools to support in-depth TCO assessments that articulate the value of VMware offerings
Develop rich content library to support TCO positioning with tools , assets , customer references, 3rd party references
Develop , deliver and support enablement for specialists , core sales, channel and customers
Product Market Development :
Develop and scale the business interface for Strategic Partnerships across the CIBG portfolio
Collaborating on complex business negotiations , deal structures and commercial agreements for CIBG
Define and drive business growth planning and execution key technology partners across , Cloud , OEM , HW
Deliver alignment and business interlocks with cross functional stakeholders in Strategic Alliances, Sales and Channel
Required Knowledge & Skills:
15+ years of software/cloud industry experience with an ideal mix of technical and business background
Prior experience in Technology Management Consulting , Product Management or Product Marketing roles in Cloud , SaaS, or IaaS preferred
The ideal candidate will possess a passion and deep understanding of the infrastructure software and systems landscape and key trends
Strong analytical skills and data driven decision making with the ability to make decisions in the face of uncertainty or imperfect data
Able to successfully recruit, motivate, mentor, coach, develop and retain a diverse, high performing team
The highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
Ability to work under pressure and in a time constrained and demanding environment.
An ownership mentality, exceptional follow through skills, flexibility in embracing frequent change in all forms.
A high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to interact at all levels within VMware including C-level decision-makers.

BA / BS degree or equivalent practical experience; MBA degree highly preferred
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The Hiring Manager for this role is the Vice President of Market Strategy and Commercialization ; responsible for this function catering to the $6B+ portfolio for VMware Cloud Infrastructure products . This is a fast paced , dynamic environment and team that interfaces with a wide variety of teams and functions in VMware across multiple workstreams and key initiatives . We adapt quickly to changing business requirements and move with conviction to drive things .
Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office in Palo Alto and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with the Vice President.
