Primary Duties
Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of ProMedica's employee benefit offerings; clearly understands eligibility requirements, coverage design, employee contributions and enrollment processes and procedures. Serves as a resource and content expert when employees and members of leadership require assistance and acts as a liaison to the insurance providers. Manage benefit administration processes, entering information into the benefits enrollment system to meet critical deadlines for payroll and benefits enrollment. Demonstrate working knowledge of benefits system, employee contributions, and payroll. Duties to include monthly billing, counsel employees on benefits, respond to and initiate customer inquiries regarding benefits, independently resolves problems whenever feasible, assists with development, planning and implementation of benefits-related activities such as annual open enrollment and Stop & Ask sessions. Establishes a collaborative relationship with business unit leadership and all HR employees to ensure that organization goals and objectives are achieved. Interprets policies and plan documents with regards to benefits to ensure that situations are addressed in an appropriate manner and policy is followed. Reviews and verifies incoming and outgoing documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance. Maintains comprehensive files to ensure that appropriate documentation is available. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards. Develops and presents educational materials on benefits related topics/issues to various audiences. Represents human resources on councils and committees as assigned. Participates and/or coordinates projects and analytical tasks as assigned. Attends meeting and in-services as required. Must follow ProMedica Mission and Values at all times. Performs all other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Must have a bachelor degree or equivalent work experience. (Equivalent experience equating to 4 years documented experience working as a benefit administrator or specialist in a large organization that offers a comprehensive benefit program.) Previous experience in area of human resources/benefits specialty preferred. Must be proficient with MS Office applications. Must demonstrate the principles of the customer service program despite difficult situations or customer behavior. Must be able to respect value and actively support the contributions and diversity of all team members.
