A Day in the Life

As the Director, Operational Excellence - Process Excellence within the Operational Excellence & Transformation team, you will be a Core Member of the Process Excellence team to guide, deploy, lead Kaizen, and execute the -one best way- methodology steps that establish the Medtronic Performance System. You will lead / co-lead the creation of the elements of the Medtronic Performance System and develop competencies and capabilities by aligning leadership behaviors to the desired OPEX culture.

Are you looking to create capability and competencies in Operational Excellence for the leader in the Medical Technology industry?

You will work closely with the Leadership Excellence team and the Platform / Site OpEx leaders to develop, pilot, and deploy a comprehensive curriculum based on scheduled offerings and need-based classes. You will be at the forefront of Medtronic's Mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life by developing the skills and competencies of our teams to deliver life-saving products.

A Day in the Life

As the Director, Operational Excellence - Process Excellence you will:

  • Guide, create, deploy, and execute the -one best way- (1BW) methodology steps and tools that establish the Medtronic Performance System.

  • Partner with manufacturing and transactional processes to benchmark, find the 1BW (internally or externally) and continuously improve on the standard. Stay current on the best new ways and technologies.

  • Contribute to the overall organizational goals, strategy roadmap, and execution of the OPEX Process Excellence staff, playing a vital role.

  • Champion how the 1BW builds a common language, a standard process that allows the organization to learn and deliver at Speed and Scale.

  • Partner with Platform Operational Excellence leaders and University site leaders to create simple, repeatable governance scorecards that are quantitative and qualitative assessments of site OPEX effectiveness.

  • Coach manufacturing sites and business process functions to establish 1BW and drive continuous improvement.

Must Have

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant operations leadership experience and 7+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant operations leadership experience and 7+ years of managerial experience.

  • Green Belt certification

  • Lean certified/trained with 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong background in operational excellence structures (TPM, BPM, DBS, TPS, etc.) and the associated tools/techniques.

Nice to Have :

  • Deep materials management experience.

  • Leading/deploying operational excellence/lean at a global or regional level in a manufacturing/operations environment for 7 + years

  • Black Belt certification

  • Ability to build a strategic roadmap that will yield a journey map for deploying the programs and standardization that meets the business needs by prioritization and focused development

  • Proficient and experienced in coaching and leading quantitative and qualitative assessments of OpEx effectiveness at sites and functions

  • Previous people management experience

  • Solid change management, coaching, and mentoring competency

  • Ability to influence change without direct authority, highly influential, and able to sell ideas and approaches

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$168,000.00 - $252,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
