Overview
FTI is currently looking for a Machinery Control System (MCS) Instructor to provide support Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and the Logistics Product Support Management Branch (Code 311) on Gas Turbine engine systems, repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance inSan Diego, CA. The MCS Instructor will deliver training to the ship's Engineering Department personnel and have experience across all versions of the U.S. Navy CG and/or DDG ship classes. The candidate should have a strong background as a US Navy Instructor and prior experience as an Engineering Control System Equipment (ECSE) Electrical Operator and Maintenance Technician, Gas Turbine (Electrical) Repair Technician, or Gas Turbine (Electrical) Repair Technician. In addition, the candidate must possess the ability to operate in a dynamic environment and quickly adapt to new processes, systems, and technologies.
Responsibilities
Conduct instructor-led training in accordance with Navy Training Policies and quality standards.
Training program administration and instructional support for the CG 47, and DDG 51 HM&E modernization (MOD) programs, to include new construction DDG training events
Prepares and delivers Machinery Control System (MCS) Training to personnel with various levels of knowledge and experience.
Evaluate training needs and effectiveness of training modules by observing student performance in the classroom and through feedback from supervisors.
Develop more effective training by ensuring class materials are current and accurate and modifying delivery methods as appropriate. Leverage new or emerging technologies to continuously improve on delivery and effectiveness of training materials.
Maintain accurate and detailed student training records and provide feedback to supervisors on students' progress.
Review and provide input or suggestions for editing existing training materials or technical manuals.
Support up to 30% of domestic and international travel.
Education/Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Five (5) years of experience as Navy Instructor and Gas Turbine Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualification
Certified Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) (9502).
Qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW).
Must be knowledgeable with Navy Instruction Procedures including OPNAVINST 1500.76 Series and NAVEDTRA 130 Series
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) are required.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment to foster a productive training environment.
Experience in various formalized Navy training environments. Delivering Training material, administering tests, evaluating performance, and performing curriculum maintenance to meet formalized training requirements.
Must have an existingDOD Secret Clearance
Instructors must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Passport to support OCONUS Training and must be able to obtain and maintain CPR Certification.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
2 years' experience in maintaining, operating, and training against varying versions of the US Navy CG and/or DDG-51 Class Engineering Plants
Five (5) years of experience with instructional design for the U.S. Navy Interactive Learning Environment (ILE) and three (3) years of experience in media production techniques and methods
Ten (10) years of shipboard gas turbine electrician (GSE), gas turbine machinist mate (GSM) experience, Machinist Mate (MM), Electricians Mate (EM), or Engines Mate (EN).
Demonstrated ability to use established methodologies in all stages of the instructional design process, including planning, analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.
Familiarity with methods of developing and delivering NTSPs (Navy Training Systems Planning) and its associated processes such as OPNAVINST 1500.76B and the Navy Training Requirements Documentation Manual (NTRDM).
Experience with the Navy's Human Performance Requirements Review (HPRR) and Job Duty Task Analysis (JDTA) processes.
Experience using Authoring Instructional Material (AIM) and Content Planning Module (CPM).
