Job Title: Cloud Cost Optimization & Governance Consultant Location: Remote

Performs analysis and research of systems and networks. Reviews detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with Development Teams, Cloud Security & Compliance, Infrastructure Teams, etc. to execute on cloud cost-saving initiatives

  • Work with Finance, Procurement, AWS Account Team, etc. to estimate savings and finalize agreements and/or remediate billing discrepancies

  • Subject Matter Expert on AWS cloud cost strategies like EDP, Auto Scaling, Reserved Instances, Savings Plan, Tagging, etc.)

  • Develops complex solutions, diagnostic, predictive/forecasting, and prescriptive financial models from business requirements and architectural specifications; provides input to set or amend architectural specifications.

  • Prepare and deliver senior leadership/executive-level presentations to technical and business teams

  • Seeks IT managements approval and acceptance of cloud application deployments to ensure best practices of cloud cost optimization is being performed

  • Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture).

  • Participates in the design of the enterprise architecture.

  • Identify and drive implementation of additional data sources and processes to provide new segmentation into FinOps reporting.

  • Develop and maintain AWS Cloud Optimization roadmap

  • Create FinOps benchmarking and cost avoidance frameworks; Identify areas of opportunity to reduce AWS cloud spend

  • Maximize effectiveness, delivery, and usage of FinOps business intelligence tool, Cloudability.

  • Establish governance processes to ensure transparent and reproducible reporting and analyses.

  • Provide day-to-day cloud cost optimization governance.

  • Demonstrate maturity and understanding of one or more Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP) offerings, particularly AWS

  • Continuous assessment of Cloud (in particular AWS) discount program(s) and work closely with AWS TAM, Account Team, and Vendors.

Qualifications

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study

  • Minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management required;

  • Significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required including 3-5 years of AWS Cloud optimization experience

  • Experience with CloudHealth

  • Experience collecting and delivering metric reports with BI dashboard modeling

  • Experience working in cloud infrastructure and with cloud management tools; knowledge in AWS CloudFormation scripts

  • Complete understanding of RIs and AWS billing tools and procedures

  • Broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems;

  • Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience leading analytical initiatives with a heavy emphasis on data analysis

  • 3-5 years of experience creating analytics and measurement frameworks

  • Analytic and modeling experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Experience in Finance

  • Healthcare Industry experience

  • AWS Certification is a big plus
