Job Description:
The Quality Inspector III will be responsible for inspecting incoming materials, first articles, and in-process and final inspections, as well as training other inspectors. The incumbent will use various gauges and hand tools to validate dimensions, features and other characteristics of prototype and production components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods for conformance to customer, engineering, and company quality requirements. The Quality Inspector III may also be assigned additional projects or tasks to support the QMS.
Objectives:
Use and read advanced inspection tools, instruments, and gauges including bore gauges, taper gauges, optical comparators, and other equipment as necessary to validate the quality of product
Must have the ability to perform inspection tasks with no assistance
Must have advanced working knowledge of surface plate layout and dimensional inspection techniques; GD&T proficiency required
Train other inspectors on the use of various inspection techniques
Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality requirements
Review company records, such as inspection reports, certificates of compliance, material test reports, and non-conformance reports to determine results of quality tests
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Record inspection results, generate inspection reports, and mark stamp of approval
Prepare rejection reports as necessary
Weld inspection experience a plus
NDE experience (MT/UT) a plus
Measurements:
On-time completion of assigned projects
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ CQI, CQT, or CQA certification highly preferred.
CMM and Optical programming experience certification highly preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate computer experience including proficiency to generate documents, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Office.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) highly preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the inspector is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The inspector must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); including safety glasses, face shield, ear protection, and safety shoes; is required in certain areas of the facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
