KBR's Defense Systems Engineering business unit is seeking to hire a Security Assistant - Classified Material Destruction to join our Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Operating Unit. CIP provides expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and Utilities/Control Systems for the DoD, FAA, and Federal Law Enforcement.
Job Summary: KBR is seeking to hire a Security Assistant (hard destruction) to support our customer located at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Position requires the Security Assistant to receive, and inventory classified waste for destruction from organizations on the Naval Research Laboratory.
Receipt, storage, and destruction of material will be performed within the appropriate secure facility.
The Security Assistant also receives classified computers for disposal which must be inventoried as government property and -sanitized- by removing classified hardware including hard disk drives, and circuit boards that contain memory. Assistant will disassemble computer, identifying, removing and accounting for, classified components, Unclassified computer hardware will be properly disposed of.
Classified materials to be destroyed include: paper and paper documents; computer hard drives and memory circuit devices.
Destruction methodology required by the classification level of the material must be followed.
The Security Assistant maintains records of classified materials received and destroyed to include: format of classified waste; classification level of material; organization received from; received date; date of destruction; destruction witnesses; date and method of disposal.
The security Assistant will provide monthly reports of destruction activities, including the number of hours the shredding equipment was in use, and the weight of the paper and metal waste disposed of.
Conforms to all required security measures applicable to the facility and the material processed. All security work performed in the area of security is performed in accordance to DSS (Defense Security Service), NSA (National Security Agency), and/or other applicable agencies which conduct regular security audits and/or investigations.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and five (5) years of related experience to include:
Three (3) years experience in a classified environment with a working knowledge of handling classified information and the safeguarding, accounting, storage, and destruction requirements for each classification level.

This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position.

$35.00 per hour
