Overview

We are seeking a Director, Quality & Mission Assurance for all AR sites. 5-10% Travel.

Quality Engineering is a vital function contributing to the overall Product Value Proposition for the Aerojet Rocketdyne Enterprise. This function provides both a technical and oversight capacity for all Aerojet Rocketdyne sites in support of our Defense and Space Business Units. The position works seamlessly with Supply Chain and Material Management, Operations and Engineering organizations to achieve the delivery of quality products on time and at cost. The Director of Quality Engineering will coordinate and implement Quality Engineering solutions for AR segment utilizing Quality Management support at each site.

The position will report directly to the segment leader of Quality Assurance. This position is responsible for developing, administering and maintaining Quality Engineering systems, standards and activities; and will partner and coordinate all activities with AR Site Leadership and the extended Q&MA organization. The location assignment for this position may be performed from any of the AR sites.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Quality Engineering function at all AR sites with a focus on developing a lean and effective quality management system, and supporting QE systems & processes, infrastructure and workforce that will meet the future needs of the Space and Defense Business Units.

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Quality Engineering Organization with a focus on development and execution of Quality Engineering tools required to support product life cycle requirements including but not limited to; design support, first article inspection plans, flow down of Quality requirements, process control plans, test support, root cause and corrective action, risk analysis/classification of characteristics, and non-conformance support.

  • Develop, coordinate and implement a set of Quality Metrics to enable early detection of adverse trends and expeditious resolution of issues at the earliest possible point in the product life cycle.

  • Champion Quality Engineering's use of e3 tools by setting high expectations for QEs to use e3 tools for problem solving and continuous process improvement in their daily work.

  • Define resource requirements and manage departmental operating budget to support those needs

    Requirements:

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Clearance - Secret

  • Strong Quality Management System and Quality principle acumen in an aerospace and defense environment

  • Proven experience increasing company efficiencies and profitability

  • Strategic and financial management experience

  • Experience leading senior employees across multiple QA disciplines

  • Change management experience - be a change agent for the Quality function

  • Quality Engineering Body of Knowledge - Six Sigma Black Belt, Shainin Red X, ASQ CQE, CQOM/OE, etc.

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $160,500 - $298,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
