The Springfield Headquarters is currently seeking applicants for a System Operator position. All experience levels will be considered. This position will monitor and operate the AECI Bulk Electric System. The System Operators work closely with other personnel within, and outside of, AECI to ensure the electrical needs of the AECI customers are always met and to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. Typical activities include directing AECI generating facilities cost effectively, while minimizing Area Control Error (ACE), monitoring power flows, voltages and status of equipment on the transmission system as well as ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. This position will also comply with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards and ensure appropriate guidelines are followed.iQualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A two-year post-secondary or Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field is preferred, but not required. At least three years system operator experience and NERC Certification is preferred; however, all experience levels will be considered.i If the successful candidate is not currently NERC Certified, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to obtain NERC System Operator Balancing/Interchange and Transmission or System Operator Reliability certification credentials. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects to meet deadlines. Knowledge must include basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
