Our Environmental Planning group in Atlanta, Georgia is looking for a Lead Consultant Environmental Planner to support and add to our wide and diverse range of environmental planning services that enables future-ready growth.
Your Impact
Plan, organize, and execute a broad range of environmental planning projects.
Lead a variety of planning studies related to environmental planning, including the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Categorical Exclusion, Environmental Assessment, and Environmental Impact Statement documentation.
Develop environmental planning documents including: purpose and need, alternatives analysis, community outreach materials, environmental technical reports and other analyses reports, permit applications, meeting summaries, and other analyses, reports, and memorandums.
Serve as project manager, deputy project manager, and major task lead.
Manage client relationships and lead business development activities.
Mentor staff and review the work of staff.
Coordinate with project managers, task managers, project team technical leads, subconsultants, and other disciplines such as planning, engineering, sustainability, and traffic team members.
Manage time and effort effectively on multiple projects.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field (or equivalent experience.
7-10 years of experience working in the environmental planning field.
Highly proficient expertise with environmental planning skills.
Extensive knowledge of relevant environmental laws, permitting requirements, notification and compliance practices, and applicable Regional/State/Federal regulatory framework.
Demonstrated technical competence leading environmental projects within business sector (e.g. commercial, infrastructure, transportation, energy, etc.).
Advanced expertise with consulting practices, conducting NEPA analysis, and preparation of associated documentation.
Experienced working on environmental planning projects, including the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Categorical Exclusion, Environmental Assessment, and Environmental Impact Statement documentation.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to team or project members (including subconsultants), with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables with a high degree of complexity.
Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with technical and business writing, office automation, and communication software, technology, and tools.
Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree is preferred.
Essential professional licensure/certification.
Active member of local, regional, or national professional organization.
Experience in ESRI ArcGIS applications and tools.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and other vector graphics software. #LI-JA1
