Description

This role positively impacts attraction, development and retention of Caterpillar employees around the world by partnering with the HR community to design and deploy global talent management processes, programs and practices, leveraging expertise, internal and external best practices and industry trends. This role collaborates closely with multiple Centers of Excellence and members of the HR community around the globe, ensuring solutions provide value to the business.

The individual in this role will lead one of the critical moments in a Caterpillar employee's career journey - new employee orientation. This includes collaborating with key partners around the world to provide a high-impact, sustainable orientation solution. The individual selected for this role will also play a key role in Enterprise-wide programs, projects and processes to ensure Caterpillar has the right talent, with the right future-focused skills, at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, deploying and continuously improving talent management processes in coordination with HR Centers of Excellence and the global HR community (processes may include career planning and development, performance management, succession planning etc.)

  • Serving as a thought partner re: talent management programs and technology; Providing advice and support to members of the HR community around the world addressing talent management related questions and requests.

  • Partnering with management in evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's talent practices and recommending improvement opportunities.

  • Facilitating change management initiatives associated with talent management activities.

  • Critical thinking and business judgement - anticipating and proactively mitigating potential project hurdles

  • Project management - developing and managing realistic project plans to ensure both quality and on-time delivery

  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships

  • Problem solving - considering a variety of potential solutions, identifying pros, cons, unintended consequences and partnering with others to recommend and implement solutions

  • Learning agility - proactively, continuously learning to improve business acumen and talent management expertise. Applying learning to adjust/pivot mindset and approach as business needs evolve and to deliver improved outcomes to the business.

Desired knowledge/experience that would be beneficial to the role includes:

  • Experience in designing and deploying new hire orientation programs

  • Expertise in talent management practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge in effective change management methods and techniques

  • Experience working in a global, matrix organization

  • College or university degree or equivalent experience
