Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineers will, working with Aeronautical Systems Engineers and Manufacturing personnel, endeavor to ensure new designs can be manufactured at or below the bid cost, incorporating -design for manufacture- principles and best practices.
Work jointly with Aeronautical Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless and cost-effective transition of Engineering design to production.
Evaluate Aeronautical Systems Engineering designs for producibility.
Assist in new production process development to support Engineering design that employs new production means and/or materials, including key stakeholders.
Develop data and metrics associated with efforts and improvements implemented.
Assist management in implementing team goals and initiatives.
Essential Functions:
Along with being fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications, the individual filling this position should possess and/or be capable of the following:
An in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing capabilities, such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, electrical harness fabrication, aircraft structural sub-assembly, composite material fabrication, chemical processing, etc.
An understanding of design for manufacture/design for assembly/design for installation and lean manufacturing principles
Ability to communicate clearly across all levels, both written and verbal, with excellence
Ability to process and understand multiple sources of data from Engineering to include drawings, Engineering Bid Briefings, Production Bid Briefings and Design Reviews, Production Estimating files and SAP database information.
Ability to work simultaneous projects and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree and a minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience is required.
Requires the ability to obtain and maintain this level of clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Ability and drive to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems, requiring ingenuity and creativity.
Working knowledge of Power BI
Working knowledge of SAP systems
Working knowledge of NX, including model assessment and manipulation
Working knowledge of additional Supply Chain Management processes including planning, procurement, and logistics
Working knowledge of aircraft structures, aircraft systems and Military/FAA design and airworthiness requirements
