GENERAL SUMMARY
The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator effectively and efficiently coordinates and maintains surgical schedules, and processes for the practice. Responsible for insurance validation and authorizations processes, maintenance of accurate data, documentation and communication among surgical centers, physicians, staff and patients for effective office functions. Reports to Practice Manager/ Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a patient liaison for scheduling of surgery and services.
Develops, inputs, maintains and retrieves data utilizing computerized systems and processes.
Provides clerical, secretarial and project management functions for the service area.
Interfaces and communicates with multiple departments.
Performs other duties as assigned.

None
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or GED with 2-3 years of experience in the medical field and/or training as a Medical Assistant (MA, MOA) or Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA).
Ability to relate well with the public.
Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to coordinate multiple schedules based on individual preferences and guidelines.
Ability to utilize scheduling software and maintain updated schedules.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
Computer skills required.
Knowledge of medical/surgical office procedures, medical terminology ICD-9 and third party payer processes or certification as a professional medical coder preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
