Manufacturing Engineer - Controls and Automation _SUMMARY:_ Manufacturing Engineer - Controls and Automation will support upgrades, improvements, and new equipment projects across multiple sites in the Vinyl and Metal Division in addition to continuous improvement activities at the home site. Supported processes include Vinyl Extrusion and Compounding; Metal Coating, Roll Forming, and Stamping; Raw and Finished Goods Material Handling; and Related Utility and Support Systems. This role reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Analysis, Extrusion and Metal Operations and indirectly to the Plant Manager. _OBJECTIVES:_ . Divisional Activities: o Define and Execute Controls and Automation upgrades to existing manufacturing equipment and facility support systems o Lead the development, design, specification, and execution of new equipment and systems o Analyze potential project benefits and provide input to Capital Appropriations process o Provide data driven recommendations for capital optimization and manage capital projects. o Assist in analyzing asset optimization and make/buy decisions. o Provide documentation and training of plant personnel as required o Interface with key equipment and service providers. . Home Site Activities: o Analyze production and maintenance data to identify root cause of down time and scrap and execute irreversible corrective actions and continuous improvement activities o Support efforts to improve Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in home site and share results, data and solutions across all sites. o Provide technical training for site maintenance and production resources as necessary o Improve and maintain documentation for production assets _KEY RELATIONSHIPS:_ . Vinyl & Metal Operations Leadership Team, Plant Managers and Front-Line Staff . Divisional Manufacturing Engineering Team Members . Site Maintenance Managers . External suppliers . Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering, other internal and external materials support providers _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:_ . Required: o Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering o Prior experience executing continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing environment o Experience in specification, purchase, installation, and release to production of capital equipment and facility support systems o Strong technical, project management skills and interpersonal communication skills. o Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement. o 30- 60% travel involved . Preferred: o Experience with Plastic Extrusion and facility support processes o Experience with Metal Coating Lines and Roll Forming processes o Experience with Automatic and Semi-automatic packaging systems o Working knowledge of MES systems and machine interfaces All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
