The Global Tool Unit (GTU) is a part of ITW's Construction Segment. The GTU innovates, develops, and manufactures best-in-class Power Fastening Systems for the global construction market.Our highly differentiated tools are specified to be used in a variety of applications including wood framing, wood trim, and steel to concrete installations.

The Senior Financial Analyst provides timely information to enable manufacturing operations and innovation R&D to meet corporate requirements and guide effective business decisions in order to deliver profitable growth. The primary requirements are the effective use of ERP and aggregated customer data to better understand and create actionable insights into how to grow the business through creation, maintenance, and optimization of two key financial databases utilizing Power BI.

The secondary requirements are to learn and support the core financial operations through maintaining capex processes and supporting month-end close/reporting.

This position reports to the Financial Controller. ITW Construction is a ~$2.2B segment that provides a variety of fastening systems and truss products for the commercial, residential, and remodeling/renovation segments. The segment includes products manufactured at locations around the globe serving markets in North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Key brands include: Paslode, Buildex, SPIT, Ramset, Red Head, Alpine, and ITW Brands.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial support to the operations and innovation teams, including sales and cost trends, cost improvement opportunities, and profitability analysis of products, suppliers, customers, and special projects.

  • Own and maintain 2 key databases of financial data / KPIs to drive profitable marketing / NPD efforts and also operational focus

  • Ability to partner with but also challenge operations and NPD teams regarding KPIs

  • Develop strong relationships with cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, customers) to understand our NPD pipeline and actively support its spend, timeliness, and key KPIs. Add value by identifying and mitigating roadblocks to the success of projects in the NPD pipeline

  • Strong ownership of capital expenditures, including proactive communication and application of financial knowledge to vet, accelerate, control, and subsequently evaluate capital projects through their lifetime and to monitor these throughout our Innovation Pipeline

  • Support the core financial reporting team with month end activities

  • Assist with Annual Operating Plan and Long Range Plan financial modeling

  • Standardize and streamline processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting

  • Other duties as assigned

  • BS/BA required; CPA preferred

  • 4+ years accounting &/or audit experience

  • 2+ years exposure to and ownership of key Power BI or similar database applications. Experience using those tools to drive results in the P&L

  • Strong understanding of financial statements and working knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze raw data and apply creative/innovative analysis, and the capability to form key, succinct, and actionable insights and recommendations

  • Attention to detail with a focus on results

  • Collaborative and highly communicative

  • Self-directed with high orientation to teamwork.

  • Must have working knowledge of ERP systems and Advanced Microsoft Office software skills.

  • Experience in accounting/finance in manufacturing environment a plus

  • Navision experience a plus

  • Occasional travel required
