Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a FRACAS Systems Engineer to be responsible for evaluating and improving the Reliability of Department of Defense (DoD) communications systems (wideband, narrowband and/or SATCOM). This position is primarily responsible for development, support and management of the FRACAS (Failure Reporting Analysis & Corrective Action System) process for specific communications products. This will primarily focus on identifying failure trends in a complex electronic, low volume environment working towards improved reliability of our products.
Essential Functions:
Systems Engineer will perform FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System), root cause analysis, investigation, and making recommendations for design improvements based on analysis
Directs investigations and determines root cause of failure on various design, production and reported field failures of communication Systems and components
Makes recommendations to the Failure Review Board (FRB)
Determines resolution of communication system failures and corrective actions in support of the FRACAS program
Coordinates efforts and issue resolution with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programs, Material Control, and Quality departments
Work in a multi-disciplined engineering development environment and will be required to manage time and resources to support multiple concurrent programs
Reviews fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures for communications systems. Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned areas
Maintains FRACAS database, monitors status, tracks open FRACAS investigations, and generates reports for management and customers
Develops, delivers, and presents technical data to management and customer reviews
Performs other duties as assigned
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance, as required
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience supporting a FRACAS program is desired
Familiarity with FRACAS software or databases and a working knowledge of Reliability Analysis and Failure Mode / Fault Tree Analysis is desired.
Understanding of engineering architecture and design concepts along with basic understanding of the engineering practices and procedures
Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems including data link and mechanical systems is desired
Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual)
Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines
Understanding in coordination of project(s) and efforts of technical support personnel
A strong background in data mining using Business Objects and SQL is a plus
Ability to productively contribute work, ideas and collaboration as part of a team
Applicants with experience performing Reliability and FRACAS specific analysis and activities is a plus
Applicant must be self-motivated and able to manage and complete their projects within budget and schedule restraints
